Fringe, How Could I Have Ever Doubted You?

What a difference a couple of weeks makes.

This season has seemed so disjointed, separate from the series to date.

But I realize now that we’re really getting the origin story of the Observers. And after this week’s episode, I think I understand where they came from and why they were so fascinated with this time period and the people involved.

If you do not want to be spoiled by a completely out there theory that may or may not be accurate, stop reading now.

Peter is the original Observer.

When he put the chip or circuit or whatever it was in his neck, I realized it: Without Peter, there are no Observers. At the same time, he also defeats the Observers.

Remember when the other Observers were so angry with September for saving Peter? September must have been one of the few Observers who knew their origin. He knew Peter was vital for their existence, so he saved Peter. The other Observers only knew of Peter’s role in bringing them down in the past.

Oh, it’s a paradox, you say? To that, I respond, “This is Fringe. A paradox is a starting point.”

We have eight episodes left.

We will learn the truth. I fear it may not be what we hoped for. But that’s OK.
