Arrested Development: And Other Joyous Things

tv1

My TV is pretty happy today.

I’m not sure where to start.

The past couple of days have been heady, smile-inducing craziness for those of us who love our television. Of course, it has been the long heralded death knell for some people’s favorite shows, and I am sure they are mostly sad, even though nothing that was cancelled in the past week or so came as much of a surprize to those of us who obsess over this sort of thing. But, in solidarity to my fellow television enthusiasts, I will give a hat tip to the dearly departed shows of the 2012-13 season. Happy Endings, you are the loss that hurts the most for me, but condolences to everyone who has lost a show.

Now, on to the happy happy happy news of the past few days.

First of all, Parks & Recreation got itself another season (YAY), and Community was somehow rescued from the heap over at NBC (Hooray – even though it hasn’t quite the same gleam it had whilst helmed by Dan Harmon). And for some reason, NBC also gifted us with another (full) season of Parenthood, a show that no one would ever think I was a fan of, but I love it like an old, favorite childhood stuffed animal. Excellent. NBC may be in the ratings basement, but it made me very happy this renewal/cancel season.

Of course the giddiness doesn’t stop there. Netflix has blessed us with an Arrested Development season 4 trailer that made me clap with glee. In two weeks I will be glued to my laptop, indulging in all 15 episodes of AD, and once finished, will most likely gorge on them again. Because I am THAT excited to follow the antics of the Bluth family yet again. Will Leitch wrote (IMO) the perfect article on why we Arrested Development fans are so fan-ny, so I will just link it and hope that you read it, right after you watch the trailer. Because it will give you much joy.

And after a couple days of tantalizing rumors, today was the OFFICIAL  news that my beloved 24 will return next Spring with a 12-hour mini-series on Fox. Is a year too long to wait for more Jack Bauer? Nope. Once the movie was canned, I was pretty sure that was the end of that, so this news is totally unexpected, and quite FAN-tastic. HOORAY!!!
