Supernatural: Grandpa Winchester!

It was nice meeting John Winchester’s dad, even if it did nothing but cause more angst for those beautiful Winchester brothers! Plus, a potentially new super-secret lair for the boys, which could be AWESOME in a Warehouse 13 kinda way, or just plain stupid. Like a super-sized AnswerForEveryProblem that may make things eye-rollingly annoying. We shall see! Also, Dean’s disdain for time travel made me think of his disdain for another method of travel:

Hee.

So, gonna do a quick recap here, as I am heading to Boston to attend my first same-sex wedding, and I just have my head full of all kinds of weird and awesome things, so the Winchesters are getting the shaft this week (that’s what she said). And that motivator right up there is all you’re getting this week, as my favorite screencap site, Home of the Nutty, is having server issues and doesn’t have any caps to share at the moment. I hope you guys figure it out soon, I miss you!

The long and short of it is this: John’s father DID NOT abandon him on purpose, so that long held belief that had Dean all twisted up for years and years was blown to pieces. Because Grandpappy Winchester was just trying to kill an UberDemon and time travelled to the present day and got himself ganked by said demon. There goes a little piece of Dean’s anger… look at it go! But another layer of angst is added as it dawns on the boys that their father was carrying around all kinds of needless anger and crazytown, thinking his father left the family behind. Oh the layers of angst! It’s like bitter, bitter, angst cake.

Also compelling: The Masonic type group called the Men of Letters, of which Sam and Dean are Legacies, apparently, which doesn’t matter anymore because all of those Men are deaddeaddead. Or does it??? Seems as though these MoL had a super secret warehouse full of super secret supernatural info that I’m pretty sure those beautiful brothers will end up living in or something. Especially after reading this semi-spoilery interview with co-showrunner Robert Singer. And that could have all kinds of implications for the continued foray into the Brothers Tale of Angst. And will most likely assist in the first Storyline of the Season, the Word of God tablets.

We have gone in some unexpected directions this season, and it is welcome. Of course the Winchester family is full of even more tales of woe than we first thought, because no Winchester gets anything nice! I mean, it’s one thing to think your father abandoned you all those years ago because he is some kind of deadbeat. It is quite another thing to find out that the only reason your father never came home was because he was off trying to protect you and your family from evil, nasty underworld monsters. Heartbreak, thy name is Winchester.

Tonight! Other supernatural type things happen! Enjoy, my friends.
