@Erika – I won’t throw rotten fruit at you, but I always loved Palmer. I think he just got stupid storylines. Totally agree about Gunton/Jones. They’re not at fault, the script has given them crap. Oh, and “bread knife of doom”? Love. It.

For the record, I only really liked Palmer in season one (ducks the throwing of rotten fruit and such). The rest of the seasons he was annoying bland and/or easily duped… I think President Cherry would be more effective if they would give us MORE GUNTON! I mean, the man is Secretary of State for goodness sake, in the middle of a UN based International crisis!! He should be right.there. (and Bob Gunton & Cherry Jones are such amazing actors, they are being WASTED!!!!!)

Anyhoo… I really like the slow-burn start to this season. I like that Jack was insanely reluctant to get involved, and was kinda on the edge of all of it, until it was time to save DarkRenee from herself. And then Jack was SO F-ING AWESOME with the bread knife of doom!! I totally cheered at that one. Now he is in the thick of it, and I hope it all swings off of him from now on.

While I despise the Dana Walsh and two doofuses storyline, I am hoping it leads to something… like getting Chloe back into the main storyline. Because I watch this show, at this point, for Jack and Chloe. Everyone else can step off!! I would love to see more of Cole, because he seems to be taken with Jack, and the little they have given him has been great. I just hope he gets more Jack time and not so much consoling/chastising Dana time.

@Chris – The only difference between the Dana plotline and the cougar plotline is that the cougar plotline was funny. The Dana plotline is just painful.

@Adam – DUUUUUUDE, totally. I like Chico Jr., too. I kinda like Vlad, too, but he’s dead now, so … Absolutely true about the politics part. I mean, if it were David Palmer pulling the all-nighter, it’d be one thing. But they haven’t had a decent president since him. But, yes, those 30 seconds gave me hope for the remaining, what, 18 hours?

Dude. DUUUUUUDE. The bread dagger wins! That one prop has done more to advance this season than ANY of the new characters they stuffed down our throats. Well, I do like Chico, Jr. But everyone else is useless. And you’re right, Cankles is Madame Inappropriate President this season. So sad, you’d figure the writers would have something better for her to do this season than sit at the UN building all night long (since when do diplomats and heads of state pull all-nighters? The show should stop trying to do politics, it’s sad). But those magical 30 seconds put things back on track. Let’s hope we get more soon.

Agree with the Renee comparison with season 2 Jack.
In addition, I’d compare the Dana plotline with the season 2 Kim faces the mountain lion for this season’s unnecessary plotline.
