I'd agree with you about Jennifer Carpenter, Tammy - and haven't Wiest and Davis won enough Oscars that they don't need to start horning in on Emmy territory, too?

As for the best actor nominees, I completely agree about Boston Legal. Have never watched a single episode. I've heard it's rather ... whatever. Yet they get nominated every frakkin' year. At least this was their last year, so next year should have some fresh blood. I agree that there are some awesome new shows, but it's as if the Academy chooses maybe 1 or 2 new cable shows each year to love on, and then they're like, "Wait, gotta make sure not to forget about Charlie Sheen and Bill Shatner!"

where is jennifer carpenter (dexter)for best supporting actress in a drama? she dances circles around those rote nominees in her work (apologies to wiest and davis).

and what about all the fine work of dennis leary and his supporting cast on rescue me? the current season is very strong, so maybe '10. I mean, can we lose the boston legal nominations. please. tv has some really fine dramas that are actually fresh and based more on theater than standard format. rescue me is at the forefront of that trend.

heads out of asses, please.
