It has been used in the past for non-deaths. Our memories are short. Season 6 ended with a silent clock, didn't it? There also seems to be the time when Mason left CTU in season 2, they silent clocked it. I wish everyone would get over the silent clock meaning death, and see that it's a device for a dramatic period on the scene. As far as the episode, I am so excited how this season is playing out.
